History Of West-Man Opportunities Inc.
The residence began in 1977 because there were concerned caregivers and parents who wanted a home in the community for their children/friends who were becoming adults. It was the first home in Brandon.
A nine-room home located at 404 – 3rd Street was purchased to make a residence for seven adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. The home had one manager assisting them in their daily needs and two part-time employees who helped with their life skills development and social needs.

At the end of November 1992, the home members moved into their new accessible residence. This was an eight-bed home with 3 bathrooms and a respite bed. The house is presently licenced for seven home members.
The board also sponsored an apartment living project with three apartments for four intellectually disabled adults. The apartment living project had one employee who assisted with life skills and assisted in the day to day needs of the people involved. Commenced in 1979 and discontinued in 2009.
Some home members have been living together for over 30 years.
In the fall of 2016, West-Man Opportunities obtained a second home, Gordon House.
